Johnny's WEST members Fujii Ryuusei and Hamada Takahiro will be double leads in the new NTV Winter 2018 drama "Sotsugyou Bakamentari" which will begin its run from January 2018 in the Mondays 12.59am timeslot. The original story is written by comedian duo Sissonne's Jirou about the romance diary of four unpopular male university students until they graduate.
In the top university of Japan, four male students in their final year i.e. Horiguchi Gaku (Fujii), Yonezawa Mao (Hamada), Kouki (Maeda Kouki) and Jun (Yoshida Yasunao) spend their time studying all the time but still hope to become real men before they graduate. While fumbling around in their attempt to meet their dream girls, these guys depend on one another to get through this journey while relying on advice from their school janitor who also happens to be a playboy (Arai Hirofumi).
Gaku studies Japanese literature in the university and would have nose bleeds regularly for no apparent reason. Whenever he does not know what to do, he would take out a book to read. As for Mao, he studies mathematics and has a very strong view about virginity but sometimes does strange things whenever he is excited. Fujii commented that his character is the exact opposite of him but he is happy to experience things which he had never tried before through this drama. As such, he hoped that the drama will resonate especially with guys. As for Hamada, he expressed his joy about being able to act together with Fujii although he has never gone to university before and has to play an elite student this time. However, he will try his best to play this character as naturally as possible and show the story's essence and charm with his co-stars and staff.
