Oricon conducted a survey on 690 of its members comprising of men and women from their teens to 50s living in 18 prefectures where they gave points according to the amount of satisfaction they felt about the first episodes of Summer 2018 dramas in 5 aspects i.e. the amount of minutes they had watched, the leading actor/actress, the supporting cast, content and how much the drama is being talked about. The full score is 100 points i.e. 20 points for each aspect.

Oricon's most anticipated Summer 2018 dramas ranking

Oricon conducted a survey on 1,364 people from their teens to 50s between 15 June and 19 June where they chose which Summer 2018 they are looking forward to watch. Dramas which were not announced by the TV stations before 15 June were not included in this survey and only dramas from the private networks and NHK were considered as candidates in this list.

There are two rankings here i.e. the primetime (7pm to 10pm) and midnight categories (shown after 11pm). Numbers in brackets indicate the overall weighted score in terms of anticipated ratings, leading actor/actress, supporting cast and content which account for 20 marks each. As such, the maximum score a drama can get is 80. The asterisk indicates dramas which are based on novels/manga.

Production press conference of TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Iryu Sousa 4"

The production press conference of TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Iryu Sousa 4" was held on 5 July which was attended by cast members Kamikawa Takaya, Kuriyama Chiaki, Danta Yasunori, Toda Keiko, Nagai Masaru and Koumoto Masahiro. The drama begins its run from 13 July in the Thursdays 8pm timeslot. In line with the upcoming Tanabata festival, the cast were all dressed in summer yukata with the exception of Kamikawa who appeared in his character's clothes so as to symbolise the only unchanged factor in the sequel even though the setting has shifted from Tsukiji in Tokyo to Kyoto.

"Iryu Sousa" began as a drama series in Spring 2011 and has 3 full-length series and 4 SPs to date. Kamikawa plays the lead character Itomura Satoshi, a police detective who depends on the items left behind in crime scenes to obtain clues in solving cases. Besides Kamikawa, Koumoto is the only actor who has appeared since the first season as the police detective Muraki Shigeru assigned to Kyoto Prefectural Police's forensics department coincidentally at the same time as Itomura who is transferred to Kyoto too. Kamikawa remarked that he was glad for Koumoto to join him in Kyoto as without him around, a signature trait of the series i.e. the conflict between Itomura and Koumoto will be lost.

The cast were also asked to write their wishes for Tanabata where Kamikawa asked for the right amount of heat and rainfall. As the filming is done mainly in Kyoto where it can get really hot in summer, it will be nice to have fine weather without too much heat so that filming can progress smoothly. However, if there is no rain, it will be bad for those in the agricultural industry so that's why he added the part asking for the right amount of rainfall in his wish. On the other hand, Koumoto wrote "No Cut Muraki" which means that he doesn't want any of his scenes in the drama to be cut. As for Toda, she hoped that she could memorise the lines in the script quickly while Danta hoped for a good performance from his favourite baseball player Uemoto Hiroki in the Hanshin Tigers team.

Kamikawa Takaya to star in TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Iryu Sousa 4"

Kamikawa Takaya will be starring in TV Asahi Summer 2017 drama "Iryu Sousa 4" which will begin its run from July in the Thursdays 8pm timeslot. The drama first began in 2011 and subsequently had two other series in 2012 and 2013 and 4 SPs.

Kamikawa plays the lead character Itomura Satoshi who is a police officer using leads from things left behind at crime scenes to solve cases. In this latest installment set in Kyoto, he will be joined by new colleagues played by Kuriyama Chiaki, Danta Yasunori, Toda Keiko, Nagai Masaru and Komoto Masahiro.

Production press conference of spring 2013 drama "Iryu Sousa"

The production press conference of TV Asahi's spring 2013 drama "Iryu Sousa" was held on 10 April at Asahi Shrine in Roppongi which was attended by the leads Kamikawa Takaya and Saito Yuki. The drama features Kamikawa as the police detective Itomura Satoshi who solves cases through the clues found from items left behind at crime scenes while moving around in his favourite bicycle. When asked about what mode of transport he would like to take in the drama, Kamikawa joked that they should use a boat next.

The drama's theme song "Yasashii Kaze ga fuitara" will be sung by Oda Kazumasa. With response to this, Kamikawa commented that he would love to act with Oda in the drama and openly called for the latter to consider this suggestion.

Kamikawa Takaya back in "Iryu Sousa" this summer

Kamikawa Takaya will be back in the latest sequel to "Iryu Sousa" this July via TV Asahi at 9pm on Thursdays. The drama which had an average rating of 14.3%,  first aired in April 2010 and featured Kamikawa as Itomura Satoshi, a detective who depends on the things left behind at the crime scene to solve a case. As Itomura will be transferred to a new police station in the sequel, his colleagues will be played by new cast members including Saito Yuki, Yashima Norito and Miyake Yuji.
