Production press conference of FujiTV Winter 2018 drama "Kioku"

The production press conference of FujiTV Winter 2018 drama "Kioku" was held at Yokohama on 9 March which was attended by cast members Nakai Kiichi, Yuka, Matsushita Yuki, Izumisawa Yuki and Imada Mio. The drama begins its run from 21 March in the Wednesdays 10pm timeslot. The drama which is shot in 4K format, is a Japanese remake of TVN's 2016 Korean drama "Kieok"(Memory) featuring Lee Sung-min which was the TV station's 10th anniversary commemorative work. Nakai Kiichi plays Honjou Hidehisa,  a capable lawyer in his 50s who is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease and losing his memory bit by bit. In a bid to win the battle of preserving his dignity to the last moment and expose the truth behind his son's death due to a car accident, Honjou comes to realise what is really important in life and treasure the bond with his family members.

The drama which was written by Nojima Shinji, consists of 8 episodes and begins its run from 9 March that will be updated on dTV and FOD on Fridays and Mondays. Mano Erina plays Ukishima Tae, a receptionist working at a large multinational trading company and has the dream of becoming a full-time housewife. In order to achieve this goal, she pretends to be a perfect woman in front of her perfect boyfriend Shiraishi Junpei and hides her true thoughts. However, when she discovers that Junpei is cheating on her, Tae decides to "buy" a boyfriend for the sake of releasing her pent-up frustrations that cannot be shown to Junpei and show her true self but this will come at the cost of monthly loan payments of 39,800 yen. Yokohama Ryuusei will play Setsuna Jun who is the boyfriend "bought" by Tae.

Completion press conference of new WOWOW drama "Bye Bye, Black Bird"

The completion press conference of new WOWOW drama "Bye Bye, Black Bird" was held on 15 February which was attended by the director Mori Yoshitaka and cast members Koura Kengo and Shirota Yu. The drama which begins its run from 17 February in the Saturdays 10pm timeslot and consists of 6 episodes, is based on the same-titled novel by Isaka Kotaro

Koura plays the lead character Hoshino Kazuhiko who dates every woman he manages to attract and is currently dating 5 women at the same time. He is also deep in debt. Wanting to reset his life and get out of debt, he gets attracted to the proposal from a mysterious organisation which will bring him to somewhere on a bus but sets the condition that he has to break up with his 5 girlfriends. While on the journey of doing so, he is accompanied by Mayumi, a 3m-tall and 200kg woman tasked to keep an eye on Hoshino who will be played by Shirota. Hoshino's five girlfriends will be played by Ishibashi Anna, Itaya Yuka, Maeda Atsuko, Usuda Asami and Seki Megumi. Other co-stars include Matsumura Yuuki, Maruyama Tomomi, Okamura Izumi, Saito Yosuke and Agata Morio.

Press conference of new Amazon Prime Video drama "Shiro to Kiiro ~ Hawaii to Watashi no Pankeeki Monogatari ~"

The press conference of new Amazon Prime Video drama "Shiro to Kiiro ~ Hawaii to Watashi no Pankeeki Monogatari ~" was held at United Cinema Toyosu on 28 February which was attended by the director Motoki Katsuhide and cast members Kawaguchi Haruna, Yokohama Ryuusei, Tokito Saburo and Zaizen Naomi. The drama consists of 25 episodes of 15 minutes each and will be released on every Monday and Friday from 28 February.

The heartwarming drama describes the true story of how a female university student Sawano Natsumi (Kawaguchi) from Shonan comes across a pancake restaurant named Eggs n' Things in Hawaii and decides to bring this delicacy to Japan which subsequently leads to the pancake boom in Japan. Despite the difficulties and setbacks she encounters, Natsumi manages to realise her dream with the support of her family and friends. Yokohama plays Mitsuyama Ryosuke, a surfer who has feelings for Natsumi but finds it hard to be frank towards her. He sees her dream as his own and supports her through the journey of achieving her goal. Tokito and Zaizen play Natsumi's parents. Filming was done at Chigasaki and Hawaii.

Nakama Yukie & Tanaka Tetsushi to welcome their first child in summer 2018

Nakama Yukie is said to be 4 months pregnant and due to give birth this summer, according to media reports on 1 March. She got married to actor Tanaka Tetsushi in September 2014 and this will be their first child. According to insiders, Nakama had already finished her filming for TV Asahi drama "Aibou season 16" which is due to end on 14 March and will be continuing with her hosting of FujiTV music programme "Music Fair" for the time being before she begins her maternity break.

Supporting cast line-up of new WOWOW drama "Yami no Bansosha 2 ~ Henshuuchou no Jouken" announced

The supporting cast line-up of new WOWOW drama "Yami no Bansosha 2 ~ Henshuuchou no Jouken ~" starring Matsushita Nao and Furuta Arata had been announced. The drama will consist of 5 episodes and begin its run from 31 March 2018 in the Saturdays 10pm timeslot.

The sequel is a suspense story based on the novel "Henshuuchou no Jouken - Daigo Shinji no Hakuran Suiri File -" by Nagasaki Takashi and features Matsushita as an investigator-cum-former police officer Mizuno Yuki working with freelance manga editor Daigo Shinji (Furuta) again to investigate the strange death of a manga editor named Nanbu which is somewhat linked to the Shimoyama incident (the disappearance and death of Shimoyama Sadanori, the first president of Japanese National Railways, in 1949). Soon after Nanbu was invited to become the chief editor of a manga magazine Manga Brave published by a mid-size company, he falls to his death from a building and the letter he left behind leaves behind many questions. Although the police are quick to classify this as an accident, Daigo who is hired to become Nanbu's successor and Yuki try to find out the truth behind Nanbu's death. The manga featured in the drama will be drawn by artists such as Mori Hideki, Tanaka Keiichi, Tsuchiyama Shigeru and Hiramatsu Shinji.

Mano Erina and Yokohama Ryuusei will be starring in the new dTV drama series "Kareshi wo loan de kaimashita" (I bought my boyfriend with a loan) which was written by Nojima Shinji and will begin its run from 9 March. Spin-off drama "Holiday Love Bangaihen ~ 10 nen mae no futari ~" to be shown via AbemaTV from March 2018

There will be a spin-off drama of TV Asahi Winter 2018 drama "Holiday Love" starring Naka Riisa which is currently showing at 11.15pm on Fridays. The spin-off drama titled "Holiday Love Bangaihen ~ 10 nen mae no futari ~" (Holiday Love Sub Edition ~ The two of them 10 years ago) will consist of two stories i.e. the Takamori couple and the Izutsu couple versions which will be shown exclusively via AbemaTV from 11.55pm on 4 March and 11 March respectively.
