Yoshida Yo on sick leave due to fatigue

Yoshida Yo is on sick leave now due to fatigue as reported on 17 October. According to media reports, Yoshida was said to have been feeling unwell since 14th October and went to a hospital where she was diagnosed to be suffering from fatigue. As such, she is currently staying at home to recuperate during these few days which coincides with her filming break.

Yoshida was said to be busy with a tight filming schedule for her current FujiTV / Kansai TV drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan" which is supposed to wrap up within this month. At present, the filming for up to episode 7 has been finished. After the filming break ends, the TV station will proceed with the filming of scenes which do not involve Yoshida on the 20th and see how her condition is before deciding what to do on the 21st.

Yoshida is also due to appear in the stage play "Enokeso Ichidaiki" which begins from 27th November and expected to appear at the first-day-screening event of her new movie "Boku no tsuma to kekkon shite kudasai" on 23rd October. Due to her sudden illness, she had skipped the PR appearance at Cannes, France, on 17th November to promote her WOWOW drama "Cold Case ~ Shinjitsu no Tobira ~" at MIPCOM.

Production press conference of FujiTV Autumn 2016 drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan"

The production press conference of FujiTV Autumn 2016 drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan" was held on 8 October which was attended by cast members Yoshida Yo, Aibu Saki, Yoshioka Riho, Ito Ran, Takahashi Katsunori, Totsugi Shigeyuki, Fueki Yuko, Shiratori Kumiko, Shonozaki Ken and Takizawa Saori. The drama which begins its run from 11 october, features a group of 7 female doctors in a team which tries to cure various difficult illnesses with mysterious causes.

Being the lead actress in this drama, Yoshida commented that she never thought that there might be a day when she would be the first to greet the media among the cast members during press conferences. Although this drama is somewhat different from other medical dramas to date, she promised to work hard and do her best.

Ito who is the eldest in the cast, revealed that it has been tough memorising the lines which contains a lot of medical jargon but it was amazing that Yoshida could say the lines so smoothly as if she was not bothered by the difficulty of the lines. Fueki commented that in normal circumstances, with so many actresses in the cast, there are bound to be problems arising if there's anyone who's a bit peculiar or unusual but she has been enjoying the filming so far because they get along very well with one another.

Takahashi who is one of the few actors in this cast, commented that although the ladies are gentle individually, he couldn't help but feel the pressure when they are together due to their strength in numbers. Totsugi who recently welcomed the arrival of his son with his wife Ichikawa Yui, was congratulated by his co-stars and joked that it was time for him to go home as it would be his son's bath time soon. Takahashi revealed that Totsugi has been showing them photos of his son on his mobile phone while Ito said that Totsugi has been smoking during the filming breaks because he has been banned from smoking at home. Upon hearing this, Totsugi was flustered and hurriedly told Ito that this shouldn't be made known to everyone.

Singer-songwriter AI will be singing the theme song titled "Miracle" for the upcoming FujiTV Autumn 2016 drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan" which begins its run from 11 October in the Tuesdays 9pm timeslot. This will be her first single since she gave birth to her first daughter in August 2015 and it will be released on 2 November.

The drama features Yoshida Yo as the lead along with six other actresses as doctors in a team. The theme song which is an up-tempo number, describes the feelings of never-give-up by these female doctors who try to face their patients with the utmost sincerity. AI commented that she hopes that the song will be an encouraging one to reinforce the strong and convincing message conveyed by the drama.

Yoshida Yo to star in FujiTV Autumn 2016 drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan"

Yoshida Yo will be taking on her first leading role in a private network drama when she appears in the upcoming FujiTV Autumn 2016 drama "Medical Team Lady Da Vinci no Shindan" which will be shown from October in the Tuesdays 9pm timeslot. This drama will be the first Tuesdays 9pm production after the Tuesdays 10pm timeslot traditionally allocated for dramas since April 1996 is converted to a variety programme timeslot from October and the broadcast of dramas are brought forward one hour earlier.

The new medical mystery drama will be produced by the crew who were responsible for the "Team Batista" series and features a team of 7 female doctors. Yoshida plays the role of Tachibana Shiho, a neurosurgeon who has a frank personality, strong sense of justice and would go all out to save her patients. As she had experienced hallucinations while in the midst of an operation, she is about to quit from the hospital that she has been working at when she is approached by her respected mentor to work at the analysis diagnostic department and be part of a team named Lady Da Vinci which consists of seven female doctors to investigate illnesses that have unknown causes. Her teammates include Aibu Saki who plays a loner talented surgeon named Nitta Yukino, Yoshioka Riho who is an intern named Tamaru Ayaka, Ito Ran who is Iwakura Yoko the director managing the team and an internal medicine doctor that treats Tachibana as her rival, comedian Shiratori Kumiko who is an emergency room doctor named Satomi Ai, Takizawa Saori who is a pathologist named Uematsu Yui and Fueki Yuko who plays a neuropathic internal medicine doctor named Murakami Natsumi. Tachibana's mentor Kitahata Masayuki who is the director of the hospital will be played by Takahashi Katsunori.

The production crew commented that Yoshida was chosen to be the lead so as to show the rational and emotional sides of her character. Yoshida commented that she doesn't think that she is of leading role material but was given the chance to be the heroine so she is thankful for the opportunity and eagerly awaits how the drama will turn out. Unlike a drama which features the lead as a glamourous super doctor, this drama features a group of female doctors who don't give up and find the answer one step by one step so Yoshida hopes that the viewers will support them on this journey.
