Kato Shigeaki's short stories compilation to be made into drama by FujiTV; NEWS to sing the theme song

NEWS member Kato Shigeaki's fourth book "Kasa wo motanai ari tachi wa" (The ants which do not hold umbrellas) will be made into a 4-part drama series by FujiTV which will be shown from 9 Jan 2016 onwards in the Saturdays 11.40pm timeslot. The book is Kato's first short stories compilation which was published in June this year, consists of six stories of which three i.e. "Renai Shosetsu", "Intercept" and "Nibe mo naku, Yorube mo naku" will be featured in the drama series. Beside being the author for the original novel, Kato will also act in the drama while his group NEWS will be singing the theme song "Hikari no Shizuku" which is due to be released as NEWS' first single in 2016. The song will include the original novel's key concepts such as the rain, umbrellas and tears with an ending message of hope.

Cast members include Kiriyama Ren, Kato, Sakata Masanobu, Adachi Rika, Watanabe Mai, Takeda Rena, Minamisawa Nao and Ryu Raita.
