"Ooizumi Yo Film Festival" to be held in conjunction with the release of new movie "Tantei wa BAR ni iru 3"

In conjunction with the release of new movie "Tantei wa BAR ni iru 3", there will be a "Ooizumi Yo Film Festival" held from 22 November to 30 November at Marunouchi TOEI where each of his 7 movies featuring Ooizumi as the lead will be shown daily. On the first day of the film festival, Ooizumi will be making an appearance for the opening ceremony along with Maeda Atsuko, his co-star in "Tantei wa BAR ni iru 3".

First-day-screening event of new movie "Kakekomi Onna to Kakedashi Otoko"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "Kakekomi Onna to Kakedashi Otoko" was held at Marunouchi Picadilly on 16 May which was attended by the cast Oizumi Yo, Toda Erika, Mitsushima Hikari, Kimura Midoriko, Uchiyama Rina, Takeda Shinji and the director Harada Masato. The movie which is based on the period novel Tokeiji Hanadayori by Inoue Hisashi, talks about how a mediator Shinjiro helps the women who have marital problems to get divorces and rebuild their lives after they escape to the government-designated refugee centre at the temple Tokeiji.

Upon seeing the theatre being packed to capacity, director Harada thanked Oizumi for putting a lot of effort in the pre-release promotional run and expressed his wish to make a sequel if all goes well for this movie. In response, Oizumi and Toda both "complained" about the director taking too long to shout "Cut!" during the filming. In Oizumi's case, he had a scene where he was hanging from his neck and almost suffocated because the director simply wouldn't stop the filming. As for Toda, there was a scene where she had to carry Mitsushima on her back and climb up the stairs so she realised the feeling of being responsible for another person's life through that episode.

As Kiki Kirin couldn't be at the event on that day, she prepared a video message where she praised the movie for having such a good cast and crew that the viewers will feel that they got a good deal in the end since the movie would have cost at least 15 times more if it was made in Hollywood.

Tsutsumi Shinichi and Toda Erika to work together in FujiTV Summer 2015 drama "Risk no Kamisama"

Tsutsumi Shinichi will be starring in the FujiTV Summer 2015 drama "Risk no Kamisama" (The God of Risk) which is his first solo leading role in a drama series in 16 years. He plays the role of a risk management expert who tries to save individuals and companies involved in various problems such as bribery and doctoring of accounts and would resort to anything to achieve his goals. His subordinate will be played by Toda Erika, a smart and aggressive Todai graduate who always gets into trouble with the people around her. This will be the first time that Tsutsumi and Toda are working together in a drama and their hometowns happen to be in Hyogo Prefecture. The two of them will be appearing in the new movie "Kakekomi Onna to Kakedashi Otoko" which is due to be shown in cinemas from 16 May.

Tsutsumi commented that it is interesting to see a drama which delves into the responsibilities and attitudes of a company that gets into trouble and is looking forward to the start of the filming to make a good drama with the cast and crew. On the other hand, Toda said that her first impression of the script was that it felt like she is knowing about the dark side of the adult world for the first time and was surprised at the harsh reality depicted in the story. However, she is confident that they will do well since she will follow Tsutsumi's lead.

Filming begins at the end of May.

Oizumi Yo, Mitsushima Hikari & Toda Erika in new movie "Kakekomi Onna to Kakedashi Otoko"

Oizumi Yo, Mitsushima Hikari and Toda Erika will be starring in the new movie "Kakekomi Onna to Kakedashi Otoko" (The woman who wants to get in and the man who wants to get out) which is based on the last work of late writer Inoue Hisashi. The movie which will be set in cinemas in May 2015, is set in the latter part of the Edo era where women who wanted to get a divorce from their husbands would escape into a temple for protection (kakekomi).

Oizumi plays the role of an aspiring writer who is just starting out as a doctor and staying at a place near Tokeiji (a temple in Kamakura). Tokeiji was recognised then by the Edo government as an official institution providing aid and shelter to women who wanted to get divorced. Through his interaction with the women staying there, Oizumi's character uses unusual methods to help them achieve their aims and begin new lives. As Oizumi's character has to say long lines quickly, he was seen as the best candidate to take up this role. His co-stars Toda and Mitsushima play women who take shelter at Tokeiji and get Oizumi's help. This is Toda's first attempt at a period movie but she overcame her initial apprehension over this and was very happy by the time she completed filming for this movie.

Filming was done at Engyoji, a temple in Himeji, Hyogo, and places such as the Shochiku studio in Kyoto between February and April this year.
