First-day-screening event of new movie "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko Hoozuki Death Road Hen"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko Hoozuki Death Road Hen" was held at Marunouchi Picadilly on 3 December which was attended by the director Tsutsumi Yukihiko and cast members Mukai Osamu, Kimura Fumino, Sato Jiro, Kimura Tae, Kurotani Tomoka, Zaizen Naomi and Nagase Tasuku. The movie which is the sequel to the drama series shown during summer this year via TBS, features Mukai as the lead character Tomonaga Ranmaru who has the special power to identify the contents of something just by tasting with his tongue. Along with Kamekanbo Hikaru (Kimura) who is a great lover of suspense dramas and Miyazawa Kanji (Sato), the trio will go to a secluded village hidden within the mountains to solve a murder case in the movie.

Mukai recounted that the movie's filming was tough for him and he cited the example of having to wear a fundoshi only at 6am in the morning and cycle. However, the nine months he spent on the drama and movie was something which he had not tried before so it was quite an experience for him. Kimura who is appearing in a Tsutsumi work for the first time, "complained" that they had to do a scene in a room where the aircon was turned off. As it was a hot day, this made the temperature climb up to near 40 degrees Celsius. Upon hearing this, Tsutsumi "kneeled down" in front of the cast and said sorry for putting them through all these.

Upon seeing the audience who had filled all the seats in the cinema theatre, Sato revealed that he was so surprised that he thought that it was a prank. Mukai also admitted that they didn't think that it was possible to make a movie out of this story which led him to feel emotional about the film being finally ready to meet the public.

In relation to the movie's title, the cast were asked what kind of special skills they had which they felt would be unrivalled. Mukai who worked as a bartender before he made his debut, commented that he's very quick at washing glasses which led Tsutsumi to give him the nickname of Dishwashing God.

Completion screening ceremony of new movie "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko ~ Hoozuki Death Road Hen"

The completion screening ceremony of new movie "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko ~ Hoozuki Death Road Hen" was held at Annivesarie Toyosu on 15 November which was attended by the director Tsutsumi Yukihiko and cast members Mukai Osamu, Kimura Fumino, Sato Jiro, Kimura Tae and Ichihara Hayato. After the ceremony, the group moved to United Cinemas Toyosu for the press conference. The movie will be screened in cinemas from 3 December and continues from the TBS drama series "Kami no shita wo motsu otoko" which ended its run in September this year. Mukai plays the role of Tomonaga Ranmaru who has the ability to analyse the content of things just by tasting with his tongue. With the help of his companions played by Kimura and Sato, the trio visit onsen resorts and end up solving various mysterious cases. In the movie, the trio will visit an onsen within a secluded village where they encounter a series of murder cases again.

During the ceremony, Mukai commented that he was really happy that the movie was completed without a hitch and can finally be shown to the public but admitted that he was feeling slightly nervous and glad to share this moment with everyone. Tsutsumi joked by saying that the movie is a serious story which will set people thinking even though in reality, it is a comedy film. He also added that he hopes people will talk about this movie as much as they are doing for "Kimi no na wa" which is the current No.1 hit in the box office. Tsutsumi said in jest that it is up to viewers how they view this movie so he is prepared for their criticism and doesn't mind if the screening turns out to be flooded with complaints from the audience.

As everyone was dressed up for the event, Mukai revealed that he wasn't used to wearing the tuxedo but Kimura praised him for looking good while Tsutsumi chipped in to say that his height made Mukai look better.

Kimura who was new to the movie along with Ichihara, recounted how tough the filming was even though she had heard rumours about Tsutsumi's "unreasonable demands" which led Tsutsumi to "kneel down" for her forgiveness. Ichihara also commented that Tsutsumi made various demands of them even though the newly-added lines and actions were not in the script so this was a first for him.

Mukai Osamu, Kimura Fumino & Sato Jirou to be back in the movie version of "Kami no shita wo motsu otoko"

The movie version of TBS Summer 2016 drama "Kami no shita wo motsu otoko" starring Mukai Osamu will be shown in cinemas from 3 December. The film which is titled "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko ~ (abbreviated) ~ Hoozuki Death Road Hen", will be written and directed by Tsutsumi Yukihiko who was also responsible for the drama series.

The movie continues from the last episode of the drama when Ranmaru (Mukai) finally finds the only woman he can kiss i.e. Miyabi (Hirosue Ryoko) but falls out of love nonetheless. After solving the last case at an onsen resort, he parts ways with his "partners" Kamekanbo Hikaru (Kimura Fumino) and Miyazawa Kanji (Sato Jirou) and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. During the trip, he collapses at a village where he meets another woman who his mouth "favours" and begins to work at the local onsen resort when another murder case takes place.
　
Besides the three main cast members, Kimura Tae will join the movie as Takeda Rindou, a beautiful doctor at the village. Co-stars also include Ichihara Hayato who plays Nonomura Ryuunosuke, the young master of the onsen ryokan Bohemian and is dressed in western-style clothes but speaks the Yamagata dialect, Zaizen Naomi who plays Katsuragi Yuki, the female manager at the ryokan and Kurotani Tomoka who plays the president of the local water factory.
　
As the full title of the movie is very long i.e. "RANMARU Kami no shita wo motsu otoko Sakagura wakadanna kaishi jiken no kage ni hisomu Tekisasu otoko to Bohemian Okami, soshite bijinmura ishi wo oitsumeru nazo no kagome kagome rouba gundan to sankensha no mura no noroi ni 2 sasu mania with miyaken to goddotan, beroncho adobencha! ryaku shite...Ranmaru wa nido shinu. Hoozuki Death Road Hen" which means "RANMARU the man who has God's tongue The Texan man and Bohemian female manager who hide behind the weird death case of the brewery's young master, and the mysterious old women's woven-bamboo pattern group who force the beautiful female doctor into a corner and the curse of the Sankensha Village and 2 suspense maniacs with Miyaken, Goddotan and Beroncho Adventure! abbreviated to...Ranmaru dies twice Ghost Light Death Road Chapter", it was thus decided that most of the central portion would be abbreviated to make the title shorter.

Filming took place in places like Shizuoka, Kyoto and Yamanashi during June and July. Mukai commented that he didn't expect the drama to be made into a movie and hopes that viewers will enjoy the scaled-up images shot during their tough summer filming. Tsutsumi commented that the passion of the staff and cast knows no boundaries so they are able to make this movie. He hopes that everyone will continue to support and offer them encouragement and criticism. at the same time.
