First-day screening event of new movie "Iya na Onna"

The first-day screening event of new movie "Iya na Onna" was held on 25 June which was attended by the director Kuroki Hitomi and the cast members including Kimura Yoshino, Yoshida Yo, Nakamura Aoi, Furukawa Yuta and LaSalle Ishii. The movie is Kuroki's directorial debut and is based on the same-titled novel by Katsura Nozomi. As Kuroki was a fan of the novel, she acquired the rights to adapt it into a movie. Kuroki recounted that it had been a tough journey all this while and she had thought of giving up many times. However, she managed to persevere in the end and was very touched to be able to hold the first-day screening event now.

Yoshida who marks her first leading role in the drama, remarked with teary eyes that the audience was like angels to her and thanked them for their support. As she reflected on the filming last August, she said that Kuroki was quite demanding on the details which she sometimes could not grasp fully. In response to this, Kimura also agreed that Kuroki had high expectations of them but she was honoured to have participated in this film and learnt a lot through the experience.

It was also announced during the event that the film will be taking part in the 21st Busan International Film Festival in October this year.

Supporting cast announcement for new movie "Iya na Onna"

The supporting cast lineup for new movie "Iya na Onna" directed by Kuroki Hitomi was announced before the scheduled release date on 25 June. The film which marks Kuroki's directorial debut, is based on the same-titled bestseller novel by Katsura Nozomi, features Yoshida Yo and Kimura Yoshino as the joint leads. Yoshida plays the role of Ishida Tetsuko who is a serious lawyer and finds it difficult to interact with others while Kimura plays a clever fraudster Kotani Natsuko who is flashy and very sociable. Co-stars include Nakamura Aoi who plays Isozaki Ken, a rookie lawyer working at Tetsuko's law firm, Sasaki Nozomi, Furukawa Yuta, Hakamada Yoshihiko, Tanaka Rena, Orimoto Junkichi, Terada Minori, LaSalle Ishii and Nagashima Eiko.

Yoshida Yo & Kimura Yoshino to co-star in Kuroki Hitomi's directorial debut movie "Iya na Onna"

Yoshida Yo and Kimura Yoshino will be the double leads in Kuroki Hitomi's first movie as a director which is titled "Iya na Onna" (The detestable woman) and due to be shown in cinemas next year. The movie which is based on the same-titled novel published by Katsura Nozomi in 2010, features Yoshida as a serious lawyer named Ishida Tetsuko who is totally immersed in her work but always has to help her distant relative Kotani Natsuko get out of trouble as the latter is a fraudster. Through each interaction with Natsuko who she deeply dislikes, Tetsuko finds herself changing unwittingly without her being conscious about it. This movie will mark the first collaboration between the three actresses.

Recalling when she was first offered the role, Yoshida said that she was very surprised and flattered because she had never worked with Kuroki before and to take on the leading role in her directorial debut is a great honour. On the other hand, Kimura had worked with Kuroki before in the 1997 movie "Shitsurakuen" but was shocked on hearing about the latter becoming a director. Despite not being fully aware of what the movie was about, both actresses took on the roles almost immediately.
