Talk show event of movie "Rikyu ni tazune yo"

The talk show event of movie "Rikyu ni tazune yo" was held at Shinjuku Wald 9 on 13 Dec which was attended by Nakatani Miki who plays Souen, the wife of the lead Rikyu played by Ichikawa Ebizo, and the director Tanaka Mitsutoshi. During the event, Nakatani commented that although the movie may seem to be focused more on describing the beauty of traditions, it is actually also a love story. The movie which is based on Naoki Award winner Yamamoto Kenichi's novel, describes how Sen no Rikyuu pours his heart and soul into the search for beauty and his long lost first love during his younger days.

It was also announced on the same day that ticket sales for the movie on 11 December which is Ladies' Day (women get discounted prices for tickets) actually exceeded the amount received on the first-day screening on 7 December by 101%. Usually, weekday ticket sales would be only 82.4% of weekend sales.

"Rikyu ni tazune yo" wins the Best Artistic Contribution award at the 37th Festival des Films du Monde - Montreal

The movie "Rikyu ni tazune yo" starring Ichikawa Ebizo, Nakatani Miki, Oomori Nao and Iseya Yusuke won the Best Artistic Contribution award at the 37th Festival des Films du Monde on 2 September. The movie which was based on Yamamoto Kenichi's Naoki Award-winning novel, featured Ichikawa as Sen no Rikyu who tries to develop his own way in conducting tea ceremonies while struggling with the memories of a tragic love when he was younger. Nakatani plays Rikyu's wife while Oomori plays Toyotomi Hidetoshi in the movie. Ichikawa's father, Ichikawa Danjuro who passed away in February this year, had also appeared in the movie as Rikyu's teacher. The movie will be shown nationwide from 7 December.

Nakatani Miki promotes the movie "Rikyu ni tazune yo" at the Festival des Films du Monde

Nakatani Miki attended the greeting event for her new movie "Rikyu ni tazune yo" at the 37th Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal, Canada, on 1 September where she appeared in a kimono and greeted the 1,000-strong audience in French. The movie is one of the entries in the World Competition category of the film festival. Nakatani mentioned during her speech that this movie is about a tea master who lived more than 400 years ago. After the screening, the audience rose and gave a standing ovation to which Nakatani expressed her gratitude at the support. Before the screening and greeting event, Nakatani also held a tea ceremony at the oldest church in Montreal i.e. Chapelle Notre-Dame de Bonsecours as part of the promotional efforts.

The movie which features Ichikawa Ebizo, Nakatani, Iseya Yusuke and Omori Nao in its cast, will be shown in Japan from 7 December.
