First-day-screening event of new movie "Eiga Yamada Takayuki 3D"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "Eiga Yamada Takayuki 3D" was held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku on 17 June which was attended by the directors Yamashita Nobuhiro and Matsue Tetsuaki as well as cast members Yamada Takayuki and Ashida Mana. The movie was made with the intention of winning an award at the Cannes Film Festival and is an unconventional work featuring 33 years of Yamada's life. The production process of the movie was made into a documentary drama "Yamada Takayuki no Cannes Eigasai" directed by Matsue  which was shown via TV Tokyo between January and March this year. Ashida who is the lead in the movie, was also the host for the screening event.

Ashida commented with a smile that it was great that the movie could be released successfully and that people who want to know more about Yamada will like this movie. In addition, she also praised Yamada for being cool to want to know more about himself. However, Yamada whose monologue forms the bulk of the movie, said that he wanted to stop the release of the film but couldn't do it. He also revealed that he regretted saying too much in this movie even though he meant to be experimental in the first place. Yamashita chipped in to say that although the movie is simple, there is so much information so he called upon viewers not to think so much or they will get a headache. Despite so, Yamada said that he was too absorbed with making a movie to win a Cannes award that he didn't spend too much time thinking about the story or acting. However, his desire to win an award for his movie is still very much alive and he hopes to win a Nippon Academy Award as he has not been even invited to the awards once in his 18-year acting career. Before he can do that, he revealed that he will have to increase his savings so as to have the funds to make another movie.

Yamada Takayuki's directorial debut movie "Eiga Yamada Takayuki 3D" to be shown in June

Yamada Takayuki's directorial debut movie "Eiga Yamada Takayuki 3D" which was made with the aim of winning an award at the Cannes Film Festival, will be released in cinemas from 16 June. Details of the movie were not revealed but the movie features Yamada as the lead with Ashida Mana making a guest appearance.

The production process of the movie during summer last year was depicted in the TV Tokyo Winter 2017 documentary drama "Yamada Takayuki no Cannes Eigasai" where Yamada teamed up with director Yamashita Nobuhiro and they had a falling-out before working together again to complete the film. Initially, the movie to be produced was titled "Kegare no Mori" and featured Ashida as the lead but it was becoming increasingly impossible to complete this that Ashida and Yamashita wanted to quit the project. After a trip back to his hometown in Kagoshima, Yamada revised his plans and decided to make this movie focus on himself instead thus the title and content were changed. The movie will still be submitted for the Cannes Film Festival competition as planned despite the changes.  Yamada said that the movie is a compilation of what he had achieved so far in life and what he has in future so without the help of Yamashita, he would never have been able to complete this movie. On the other hand, Yamashita said that he thought that he would never work with Yamada again when they fell out but in the end, they managed to make things work again and dedicated this film to Ashida who helped them to complete this.

Yamada Takayuki to star in TV Tokyo Winter 2017 documentary drama "Yamada Takayuki no Cannes Kokusai Eigasai"

Yamada Takayuki will be starring in the TV Tokyo Winter 2017 drama "Yamada Takayuki no Cannes Kokusai Eigasai" (Yamada Takayuki's Cannes International Film Festival" which will be shown from 6 January 2017 at 12.52am on Fridays. The drama produced by documentary director Matsue Tetsuaki describes Yamada's summer this year as he tries to produce a movie with director Yamashita Nobuhiro in a bid to win an award at the Cannes International Firm Festival.

Yamada recounted that he had learnt a lot through the process  even though he wouldn't say that all the decisions made were perfect. However, by putting his dream into action, there were things which he realised as a result and they may be useful to his life in future. Yamashita who was brought into this adventure by Yamada, joked that he will run away from the latter next time if he suggests anything like this again and called upon everyone to be careful of Yamada who has the magic to make people do his bidding. Matsue also chipped in to "apologise" to all those who were affected and inconvenienced by Yamada's whims during this project especially the organisers at Cannes. However, despite so, they managed to get some phenomenal footage and hope that the drama can be shown till the last episode without any hitches.
