Narimiya Hiroki & Nanao to be back in "Futagashira 2" as Jinzaburo and Okon

Narimiya Hiroki and Nanao will be back in the sequel "Futagashira 2" which begins its run from 17 September in the Saturdays 10pm timeslot. The drama consists of 5 episodes and features Matsuyama Kenichi and Saotome Taichi as the leads. Narimiya and Nanao will reprise their roles as Jinzaburo and Okon respectively who went missing after being defeated by Benzo (Matsuyama) and Soji (Saotome). Although Jinzaburo and Okon had a romantic relationship in the first season, there aren't any intimate scenes involving them in this sequel. However, since Narimiya had done a good job in leading her when they first worked together in the previous season, Nanao commented that she allowed him to do the same this time which allowed her to put in her best too.

Matsuyama Kenichi & Saotome Taichi to be back in WOWOW drama "Futagashira 2"

Matsuyama Kenichi and Saotome Taichi will be back in the WOWOW drama "Futagashira 2" which will begin its run from September. The duo were the leads in the first series which spanned 5 episodes from June to July last year and are back in the sequel to reprise their roles as Benzo and Soji respectively who try to make it to the top of Edo this time.

Matsuyama commented that he is looking forward to acting in the new sequel which allows him to experience things unique to period dramas. He also said that the drama will showcase the cool charm of men and the womanly charm of women so it will be a must-see for viewers. As for Saotome, he is looking forward to do things that he couldn't show in the last series and wants to challenge himself in the sequel.

Completion screening event of WOWOW's first period drama "Futagashira"

The completion screening event of WOWOW's first period drama "Futagashira" was held on 11 June which was attended by cast members Matsuyama Kenichi, Saotome Taichi and Nanao. The drama which began its run from 13 June, is showing at 10pm on Saturdays. This is the first drama series which Matsuyama had acted in since the NHK Taiga "Taira no Kiyomori" 3 years ago. Being a fan of the original manga, Matsuyama said that he was very happy to be involved in the production of the drama and satisfied with the end result. Matsuyama also praised Saotome who played his buddy in the drama for being a professional at period dramas and was very confident due to having Saotome by his side. As the manga is still being serialised, the drama's storyline will thus differ from the manga a little bit but Matsuyama hopes to be able to make a sequel again.

As for Nanao, this drama marks a number of firsts for her e.g. her first period drama appearance and her intimate scenes with Narimiya Hiroki. Recounting on the filming, Nanao said that Narimiya would improvise on the scene so she followed his lead thus had little trouble with the intimate scenes.

Narimiya Hiroki & Nanao to appear in WOWOW period drama "Futagashira"

Narimiya Hiroki will be appearing in the new WOWOW period drama "Futagashira" starring Matsuyama Kenichi and Saotome Taichi which begins its run from 13 June in the Saturdays 10pm timeslot. This is his first drama after graduating from the "Aibou" series in March this year so Narimiya commented that he hoped to bring whatever he learnt from "Aibou" to his new works and it will be a new experience for him to change from being a police detective to becoming a bandit in this drama.

Matsuyama and Saotome play the characters Benkei and Soji who break into the houses of the evil at night to steal their stuff and are part of the bandit group Akame. After their respected leader Tatsugoro entrusts the group to them on his deathbed, his widow Okon played by Nanao comes up with a will said to be written by Tatsugoro which states that his successor should be Kanzaburo (Narimiya). As Benkei and Soji do not agree with Kanzaburo's ways of killing at will for the sake of stealing, they embark on a journey to do something big. Meanwhile, Kanzaburo and Okon carry on their secret liaison which began way before Tatsugoro died.

Even though this is the first time that Narimiya and Nanao are working together, they have many scenes together and even have bed and kissing scenes. As such, Narimiya said that it was essential for them to build a rapport and trust each other so that they could do the scenes naturally. Nanao also commented that thanks to Narimiya's help in leading her, they were able to finish the intimate scenes successfully.

Matsuyama Kenichi & Saotome Taichi to work together in new WOWOW drama "Futagashira"

Matsuyama Kenichi will be starring in the new WOWOW drama "Futagashira" which will begin its run from June. This will be Matsuyama's first period drama in three years since his NHK Taiga "Taira no Kiyomori".

The drama set in the Edo era features Matsuyama as Benkei and Saotome Taichi as Soji who both work at a courier service in Hachioji and have double identities as members of a theft group named Akame which steals money from the evil. One day, when their respected leader Tatsugoro is on his death bed, he tells Benkei and Soji that he will leave Akame to them but Tatsugoro's will states that the designated leader will be Kanzaburo instead. The duo refuse to accept this and set out on a trip to do something big.
