Komatsu Nana & Ooizumi Yo to star in real-life adaptation movie "Koi wa ameagari no you ni"

Komatsu Nana and Ooizumi Yo will be joint leads in the new real-life adaptation movie "Koi wa ameagari no you ni" (Love is like after the rain stops) which is based on the same-titled manga by Mayuzuki Jun and directed by Nagai Akira. Filming began from 15 November and is expected to wrap up at the end of December. The movie will be shown in cinemas from May 2018. The anime version will be shown via FujiTV's Noitamina timeslot from January 2018.

The story features Komatsu as a 17-year-old student Tachibana Akira whose dream of being an athlete gets cut short due to an injury. By chance, she visits a family restaurant where she meets its 45-year-old manager Kondou who treats her gently thus leading Akira to fall in love with him. However, Kondou who is divorced with a young son, does not feel that it is a good thing to get involved with Akira who is much younger than him and has reservations about his future after giving up on his dream to become a novelist. As time goes by, the distance between them narrows and they gradually become each other's "rain shelter" to get the courage to move ahead in life.

Komatsu commented that the movie may seem like a love story between a senior high school girl and a middle-aged man at first but is actually a tale of how two people grow up and become better people. Although it is difficult to be frank and convey one's feelings, her character Akira is the exact opposite of human nature so she hopes to be able to convey the relationship between Akira and Kondou well with Ooizumi who she is working with for the first time.

On the other hand, Ooizumi said that he was pleased to get the offer where he gets to be in a romance and found himself identifying with Kondou after he read the manga. He pledged to work hard with Komatsu to make a good movie and show the progression in the two characters' relationship. Even though the real age gap between the two of them is 23 years old, Ooizumi feels that this is a just-nice distance between them.
