The first-day-screening event of new movie "Kabocha to Mayonnaise" was held at Shinjuku Musashinokan on 11 November which was attended by the director Tominaga Masanori and cast members Usuda Asami, Taiga and Odagiri Jo. The story which is based on the manga by Nananan Kiriko, features Usuda as the lead character Tsuchida who works at a cabaret in order to support her live-in boyfriend Seiichi (Taiga) who aspires to be a musician. As a result, Seiichi resolves to change himself and starts working. Just then, Tsuchida reunites with her ex-boyfriend Hagio (Odagiri) who she has yet to forget as she grapples with her old and current feelings for the two men in her life.
When asked about any memorable incidents during the filming, Odagiri cited the intimate scene between Tsuchida and Hagio which was supposed to take place on the rooftop of a live house. However, due to the rainy weather, they had to do the scene at the back of the payment counter of the live house which was really cramped and dirty. As such, Odagiri praised the director for this ingenious, unimaginable yet realistic idea. When the director expressed his thanks to the rainy weather for spoiling his original plan, he revealed that Odagiri was laughing when he questioned the director's choice because the shop was so big and yet he chose such a small spot in the end.
During the event, Taiga sung the movie's insert song "Hige-chan" live and revealed that he came to the venue to practise since 7.30am that day. Being so near to the audience and having his co-stars look at him perform made him so nervous that he had trouble tuning his guitar before the staff stepped in to help. Taiga then asked the audience if he could start all over again and apologised for the small hiccup. After the performance, Usuda praised Taiga's song for being pure and frank while Odagiri expressed his admiration about Taiga being able to sing so well in front of the audience.
