I never knew that Hochi Movie Awards actually has so many nominees! It makes me trust the award a bit more. Furthermore, I'm suprised but love the fact that for Best Leading Actor, the No.1 voted by the readers is Morita Go for his acting in Himeanole. Well, Kishi Yuuta and Nakajima Kento make it obvious that Johnnys is dominating.

I don't know much about this award, how they will decide the winner? does there will be more than one of the winner?

Hi Anonymous, the nominees are chosen based on the public's voting and are usually restricted to the top 20 for movies and top 10 for individuals. It could be that the voting results for some of the nominees were quite close so this year's list is slightly more than expected. There will be a panel of judges who will decide the final winners.

I just took a quick look at the past results from 1976 to 2015 and see that there were no multiple winners for the movies and individual awards except for best newcomer e.g. Ishida Hikari & Takenaka Naoto in 1991, Sakuraba Nanami & Miura Takahiro in 2010, Mitsushima Shinnosuke & Nounen Rena in 2012, Komatsu Nana, Tosaka Hiroomi & Nishida Masafumi in 2014 and Fujino Ryoko and Hirose Suzu in 2015.

Hi Seeing in My Side, I like Matsuoka Mayu too but I think Kiki Kirin might have a good chance at the supporting actress award too.

Hi nihonarashi, the final results of the award should be decided by the panel of judges. Not sure if the viewers' choice matters and how much weightage it may have on the final decision but as far as Yomiuri Hochi's website says, the nominees were decided by the viewers while the winners will be decided by the judges.

I heard a lot of good comments about Morita's performance in Himeanole but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. The voting result for best supporting actor and best newcomer does seem to suggest that it's due to popularity or mass fan voting rather than based on actual performance. Not to discredit the Johnny's artists because there are good actors among them too but sometimes, it's too blatant that it's the fans rallying together to support their favourites.

I thought that the movies released recently may be at a slight disadvantage in the viewers' voting but it looks like some of these movies still made it to the nominees' list even before they were screened.

I mean the newcomers one. It's impossible for me to support Mayu on supporting actress category because i haven't watch any movie but Chihayafuru
