Ito Atsushi to star in real-life adaptation movie of popular mobile game app "Neko Atsume"

Ito Atsushi will be starring in the real-life adaptation movie of popular mobile game app "Neko Atsume" which will be titled "Neko Atsume no Ie" (A cat collector's house) and shown next year. The mobile app which has more than 19 million downloads to date, is a game where the player leaves food and toys at the house's garden and observes how the cats gather and play.

The movie directed by Kurakata Masatoshi features Ito as the lead character Sakumoto Masaru who is a novelist facing a slump in his work and decides to move to a tranquil place on a whim. While there, he encounters many cats and through his interaction with them, his life slowly changes as well. Besides the famous Cinnamon which appears in the CHOYA Umeshu CM, there are also other feline stars featured in the movie.

Ito recounted that when he was on the set, he got a lot of positive energy and felt refreshed through interacting with the cats which have an unspeakable power to give hope to others. As such, he hopes that when viewers finish watching the movie, they will be filled with warmth in their hearts and view the future in a more positive light. Although the movie is a simple one, the staff and cast had put in their all to make this film work so he wishes that the viewers can see that too

Really? Wow! I love Neko Atsume, but never for the life of me imagined there would be a film on it. This sounds like a neat idea, and I hope they find cats as similar as possible to the kitties in the game. I can't wait to see it!

This will probably be a healing and feel-good type of movie with all the cuteness from the cats. Storywise is probably going to be really simple and straightforward so it's even more difficult to make this interesting.
