Yoshida Kotaro will be back in the new SP of TV Tokyo's drama series "Tokyo Sentimental" along with regular cast members Takahata Mitsuki and Katagiri Jin. The SP titled "Tokyo Sentimental ~ Ochanomizu no Koi ~" will be shown at 12.12am on 30 March and is the latest installment in the series which had two SPs in 2014 and 2017 and a full drama in 2016. Yoshida plays the role of Japanese sweets maker Kururi Takuzo who had gone through 3 divorces and is currently single. In each episode, he falls in love with different women but these relationships never bear fruit. Takahata plays Sudo Akane who works part-time at Kururi's shop while Katagiri plays Shibata Koukichi, a barber who is a longtime friend of Kururi.
In the latest SP, Kichise plays the heroine Akimoto Kaede who Kururi meets at a cooking class where Kaede is the instructor. Kururi then fights with his fellow classmate Masuda Shinnosuke (Aoyagi Sho) who is single and handsome over Kaede who had a traumatic experience of being involved in an extramarital affair.
Yoshida said that he was surprised that there would be a sequel but he was happy about this after all. He joked that choosing Aoyagi to play his rival in love made it so obvious that Kururi would lose this battle and said that it might have been better to get someone similar to him. Yoshida also complimented Kichise for being as beautiful as before since the last time they worked together was 7 years ago and she is already a mother of 2. On the other hand, Kichise commented that it was difficult to play Kaede who never meant to give people the wrong idea but unwittingly does the opposite. As for Aoyagi, he said that his character did border on the edge of being seen as a stalker but it was a worthwhile experience to display various realistic emotions such as jealousy which people in love would go through.
Takahata exclaimed that it was great to be able to do this series for the fourth time and that she was envious of Yoshida who got to be in love with beautiful women each time. Although she always wondered before the filming how she should act, the feeling of how to do so would come back naturally when the cast members gathered. Last but not least, Katagiri commented that he thought that there wouldn't be any more sequels since they did this during the New Year period in the past. However, he was glad to be back in the sequel and expressed his joy in meeting Yoshida and Takahata again.
