Ueto Aya to play the heroine in TV Tokyo drama SP "Midnight Journal Kieta yuukaihan wo oe! Nananenme no shinjitsu"

Ueto Aya will be playing the heroine in new TV Tokyo drama SP "Midnight Journal Kieta yuukaihan wo oe! Nananenme no shinjitsu" starring Takenouchi Yutaka which will be shown at 9pm on 30 March. This is the first time in 7 years that Takenouchi and Ueto are working together since the FujiTV Autumn 2010 drama "Nagareboshi".

The story is based on the novel by Honjou Masato who won the 38th Yoshikawa Eiji Literature Newcomer Award and describes the behind-the-scenes happenings in a news company. Takenouchi plays the lead character Sekiguchi Goutaro who is a news reporter transferred from the HQ to the Saitama branch of a news company due to a misreporting incident involving a sensational serial kidnapping-murder case. 7 years later, another kidnapping-murder case of a young girl happens which leads Sekiguchi to suspect if the two cases are related. With the help of his former colleague Fujise Yuri (Ueto) who is from the HQ and was also transferred due to the same misreporting incident, Sekiguchi tries to re-investigate the case from 7 years ago.

Ueto commented that she had always wanted to act in a social awareness-themed work so when she got the offer, she was very happy about it. As this is the first time she plays a news reporter, she came to realise how tough it was to be responsible for their own reports and convey the news to the readers. With regard to working with Takenouchi again, she was excited about this and felt like they were destined to work together again and hoped that this high-quality drama would become a long term series in time to come.
