Mizukawa Asami to star in new WOWOW drama series "Double Fantasy"

Mizukawa Asami will be starring in the new WOWOW drama series "Double Fantasy" which is based on the same-titled novel by Naoki Award winner Murayama Yuka that had won the 4th Chuou Kouron Bungeishou, the 16th Shimaseren Aibungakushou and the 22nd Shibata Renzaburou Shou. The drama which consists of 5 episodes, describes how a woman decides to live according to how she desires and features a number of intimate scenes. It will be shown during summer this year in the Saturdays 10pm timeslot.

Mizukawa plays the 35-year-old lead character Takato Natsu who is a popular scriptwriter and lives with her husband Shogo (Mashima Hidekazu) in a detached house located in the suburbs as he takes care of the household. Natsu hates it when her husband gets involved in her work or when her mother Kiyoko (Takigawa Yumi) tries to coax her to go for fertility treatment so that Natsu can give birth to a baby soon. As such, Natsu would complain to her close friend Okajima Kyoko (Shinohara Yukiko) who is also a magazine editor about these things. Just then, Natsu gets invited to watch a new stage play by director Shizawa Ichirota (Murakami Hiroaki) and ends up having a one-night-stand with him. On impulse, Natsu decides to leave home but Shizawa does not treat her as she expected. While struggling with the intense loneliness, Natsu reunites with Iwai Ryosuke (Tanaka Kei), her ex-boyfriend from university who is working as a news reporter and also gets involved with Obayashi Kazuya (Yanagi Shuntaro), a newbie actor, who woos her aggressively.

Mizukawa commented that when she got the offer, she was surprised because she had never gotten any role to date which emphasized a woman's femininity in this manner. She revealed that her view of living according to one's desire is to take charge of one's freedom but this can be lonely. As such, she will try her best to play Natsu and hoped that the viewers can experience unpleasantness in a good sense while watching this drama.

Minorikawa Osamu, the director of this drama, commented that in this current age where there are so many reports of people having affairs and the increased intensity of criticism against such people, there are actually many people who feel stifled by the social norm of living in the correct manner. In this drama, the heroine, despite being married, gets involved with various men one after another so she would be seen as a negative figure from the ethical perspective. However, her stance of seeking liberation from rules would probably be seen as bursting with energy as well as she tries to live her life to the fullest.

Filming for this drama had been completed.
