The supporting cast line-up of TV Tokyo drama SP "Midnight Journal Kieta yuukaihan wo oe! Nananenme no shinjitsu" starring Takenouchi Yutaka had been announced. The drama which will be shown at 9pm on 30 March, is based on the novel by Honjou Masato who won the 38th Yoshikawa Eiji Literature Newcomer Award and describes the behind-the-scenes happenings in a news company. Takenouchi plays the lead character Sekiguchi Goutaro who is a news reporter transferred from the HQ to the Saitama branch of a news company due to a misreporting incident involving a sensational serial kidnapping-murder case. 7 years later, another kidnapping-murder case of a young girl happens which leads Sekiguchi to suspect if the two cases are related. With the help of his former colleague Fujise Yuri who is from the HQ, Sekiguchi tries to re-investigate the case from 7 years ago. Kanichiro plays a newbie reporter Okada Shota who is investigating the case with Sekiguchi.
Kohinata Fumiyo will play Nikaidou Minoru, a reporter assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department who assists Sekiguchi in his investigation while Matsushige Yutaka will play Yamagami Mitsuaki, the commissioner of Saitama Prefectural Police. Masu Takeshi plays Suga Makoto, Sekiguchi's superior and Kinoshita Houka plays Toyama Yoshimasa who was Sekiguchi's previous boss and caused him to be held responsible for the misreporting incident. Sekiguchi's mother-in-law Nishino Sae will be played by Asaka Mayumi and Tokushige Satoshi will be played by Tsujimoto Takeshi, the director of the society news department in the HQ. Matsuo Satoru and Mizusawa Erena will play Sekiguchi's juniors Kato Takumi and Inoue Misa while Mizutani Kaho will play Kiyokawa Airi, the victim of the murder case.
The actress playing the heroine in this drama SP Fujise Yuri will be announced at a later date.
