Okada Junichi to star in new horror movie "Kuru" with Tsumabuki Satoshi, Kuroki Haru, Komatsu Nana & Matsu Takako

Okada Junichi will be starring in the new horror movie "Kuru" (Coming) directed by Nakashima Tetsuya and based on the novel "Boginwanga, kuru" by Sawamura Ichi which won the 22nd Nihon Horror Taisho in 2015. The story describes the horror of having an unknown risk lurking in the shadows and how people who are perceived to be righteous can turn out entirely different when seen from a different perspective. Co-stars include Kuroki Haru, Komatsu Nana, Tsumabuki Satoshi and Matsu Takako.

Okada plays a freelance writer Nozaki while Tsumabuki plays a company employee Tahara Hideki whose wife Kana (Kuroki) is currently pregnant with their daughter. The couple names their unborn daughter Chisa which supposedly should not be known by anyone else. However, to Hideki's bewilderment, someone visits him at his office with the reason that he/she wants to talk about Chisa but Hideki never finds out who that person actually is. 2 years later, strange things start happening around Hideki which leads him to get his friend Nozaki to investigate and the latter introduces his girlfriend Makoto (Komatsu) with the power to detect supernatural things. Matsu plays Kotoko, the elder sister of Makoto and the No.1 psychic in the country.

Okada said that he is honoured to be working with the director for the first time and looking forward to the collaboration with his co-stars. He revealed that just reading the script was frightening but pledged to work hard to play Nozaki in the movie. As for Tsumabuki, he expressed his excitement at working with Nakashima for the third time and believed that this will be a new type of horror movie which will entertain everyone. Kuroki described her character as a type she has never played before so despite the difficulty, she hoped to be able to show a different side of her and enjoy the experience. Komatsu commented that her character may seem unusual but actually consists of the various elements in a human being i.e. strengths and weaknesses, sense of justice and femininity so she is looking forward to see how her character will turn out in the story. Last but not least, Matsu who is working with Nakashima for the second time, said that she was very happy to be approached for this movie and hoped to do well with her co-stars and staff members.

Filming is expected to wrap up in mid April and the movie will be shown in cinemas in 2019.
