Takahashi Yumiko released a statement through her agency in response to a report in "Shuukan Bunshun" published on 15 March about her alleged affair with a married entrepreneur in his early 40s. The two of them were said to have entered a Tokyo love hotel earlier this month. Although Takahashi said that they are just drinking buddies, she did not comment on the nature of their relationship nor explain what they were doing at the hotel. She acknowledged that it was true that she spent time with the man in an irrational manner at a controversial place and she couldn't find the appropriate words to explain her action. As such, she is fully aware that she will be criticised for what she did and would like to express her regret and apologise about this incident.
Takahashi's agency also released a statement apologising for the inconvenience and disturbance caused by this matter and commented that they are fully aware of her responsibility as a public figure. As the other party is not a celebrity, they will refrain from commenting on the findings from the article so as not to affect his private life. The agency sought the understanding of everyone in this regard.
