First-day-screening event of new movie "Katte ni furuetero"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "Katte ni furuetero" was held at United Cinema Toyosu on 23 December which was attended by the director Ohku Akiko and cast members Matsuoka Mayu, Watanabe Daichi, Ishibashi Anna and Kitamura Takumi. The film which is based on the same-titled novel by Watanuki Risa, describes how the lead character Yoshika (Matsuoka Mayu), a 24-year-old single OL, has never had a boyfriend and imagines her first love from junior high to be her imaginary boyfriend "Ichi" (One) for as long as 10 years. However, when she receives her first love confession from her colleague "Ni" (Two), this marks the beginning of her agony over whether she should choose to stick with her imaginary boyfriend or date someone for real. Watanabe plays Ni while Kitamura plays Ichi.

As this film marks Matsuoka's first leading role in a movie, she commented that she only achieved this 14 years after she made her debut at the age of 8 and was filled with joy to be able to mark the release of the movie with everyone present at the event. It was also revealed that she was interviewed by 106 media outlets and attended 10 events for the promotion of this movie which coincided with the filming of the drama "Kounodori 2". Her co-star in the drama Ayano Go expressed concern for her as he told her that usually, they would only need to do about 50 to 60 interviews if they are supporting actors but for the leads, this figure could easily go beyond 100. Matsuoka commented that she was surprised at and impressed by how accurate his prediction was.

In line with the the title of the movie, the cast was asked if there were any recent incidents which made their hearts flutter. Matsuoka revealed that during the filming of the drama "Yasuragi no Sato", Ishizaka Koji and Kaga Mariko were talking about what kind of actress Matsuoka would become in time to come and she was deeply moved when they told her that it was fine for her to remain as she was. Upon hearing this, Kitamura "complained" that it would be very difficult for those who answered after her to come up with an equally impressive or better answer to the question. As for Watanabe, he said that when the theme song of this movie "Baby You" sung by his band was played on the radio show "Bakusho Mondai Car Boy", he felt the same way as Matsuoka because he had listened to the programme since he was a student and loved it a lot.

At the end of the event, Matsuoka expressed hope that the audience at the event would remember fondly that they had come for this screening years later and become an actress who everyone would be proud to talk about. She also declared that it would be great if the cast members of this movie would become important players in the movie industry in future.
