Sugisaki Hana, Hirano Sho & Nakagawa Taishi to star in new TBS Spring 2018 drama "Hana nochi hare ~ Hanadan Next Season ~"

Sugisaki Hana will be starring in the new TBS Spring 2018 drama "Hana nochi hare ~ Hanadan Next Season ~" (Sunshine after flowers ~ Boys Over Flowers Next Season ~" which will begin its run from April 2018 in the Tuesdays 10pm. The drama is based on the same-titled manga by Kamio Youko and the sequel to the hit series "Hana Yori Dango". This will be Sugisaki's first leading role in a drama and co-stars include King & Prince's Hirano Sho and Nakagawa Taishi.

The story is set 10 years after the F4 and Makino Tsukushi featured in "Hana Yori Dango" had graduated from Eitoku Gakuen which is facing difficulties due to declining enrollment as a result of the recession. Sugisaki plays the lead character Edogawa Oto who attends Eitoku despite being from a poor family while Hirano plays Kakuragi Haruto who is the heir of Kakuragi Group and regarded as the 2nd Doumyouji in Eitoku because of his leader position in C5 (Correct 5) even though he is actually weak mentally and incompetent. Nakagawa will play Oto's fiance Hase Tenma who is the student council chairman at Momonozono Gakuin, the rival school of Eitoku.

Sugisaki said that she was very surprised and happy to be given this chance especially since the title of this drama also had her name "hana". As such, she pledged to put in her best effort to play Oto. As for Hirano, he said that he had watched the original Hanadan series back then in 2005 and 2008 starring Inoue Mao and Matsumoto Jun when he was a student so he was extremely happy to be given this chance. He hoped to do his best so as not to disappoint the original manga's fans. Last but not least, Nakagawa said that the only time when he got into a quarrel with his parents was when he didn't manage to record the last episode of the Hanadan drama even though he was a faithful fan of the series. He was filled with a lot of joy when he got the offer to star in the sequel and hoped to play Hase in a convincing manner.
