Matsuyama Kenichi & Dan Mitsu to appear in new movie "Sekigahara"

Matsuyama Kenichi and Dan Mitsu will be appearing in the new movie "Sekigahara" directed by Harada Masato and starring Okada Junichi which is due to be shown in cinemas from 26 August. The movie which is based on the same-titled novel by Shiba Ryotaro, features Okada in the leading role of Ishida Mitsunari, a military commander who lived during the Azuchi Momoyama Era and was usually depicted as a shrewd villain in many books and fiction works but will be described in a different way this time. Co-stars include Yakusho Koji who plays Tokugawa Ieyasu, Arimura Kasumi who plays Hatsume, a ninja from Iga and Ishida's maid as well as Hira Takehiro, Higashide Masahiro, Nakagoshi Noriko, Kitamura Yukiya, Ito Ayumi, Otoo Takuma, Wada Masato, Takito Kenichi, Kimura Midoriko and Nishioka Tokuma.

Matsuyama will be playing the role of Naoe Kanetsugu who forms an alliance with Ishida to fight Ieyasu. Matsuyama commented that although many actors have played Kanetsugu to date, the movie's depiction of this character is slightly different from the past so he had fun playing him in this movie. Being able to work with Okada who he respects a lot was also a memorable experience for him.

On the other hand, Dan will be playing nun Myozen who is an old acquaintance of Shima Sakon (Hira), the right-hand-man of Ishida. Although her appearance time is limited, her character is a silent observer of the secret talks between Sakon and Ishida. Dan hoped that her acting would not affect the movie adversely in any way and called everyone to support the film when it is released.
