The cast announcement press conference of new NHK morning drama "Hiyokko" was held on 30 January which was attended by cast members Arimura Kasumi, Wakui Emi, Miyamoto Nobuko, Sasaki Kuranosuke, Sato Hitomi, Ryusei Ryo, Isomura Hayato, Fujino Ryoko, Kojima Fujiko, Yagi Yuki and Matsumoto Honoka. The drama which begins its run from 3 April, will be shown from Mondays to Saturdays at 8am and features Arimura as the heroine Yatabe Mineko who comes from an agricultural family in the northwestern part of Ibaraki Prefecture and moves to Tokyo to work in the year 1964 when the Tokyo Olympics takes place so as to look for her father who had disappeared. The script will be written by Okada Yoshikazu who is doing his third morning drama after 2001's "Chura-san" and 2011's "Ohisama".
For Arimura, she achieved her first career breakthrough in the 2013 morning drama "Ama-chan" where Miyamoto had played her mother. The latter commented that this is her fifth appearance in a morning drama and she is looking forward to working with Arimura again.
"Hiyokko" consists of 156 episodes which will be shown between 3 April and 30 September.
