The screening event of new movie "Neko Atsume no Ie" was held at a cat cafe in Tokyo on 21 February which was attended by Ito Atsushi. The movie which will be shown in cinemas from 8 April, features Ito as the lead character Sakumoto Masaru who is a novelist facing a slump in his work and decides to move to a tranquil place on a whim. While there, he encounters many cats and through his interaction with them, his life slowly changes as well.
Ito recounted that the filming was very therapeutic for him as he was surrounded by cats. Usually, the waiting time in between the scenes would be quite painful and boring but they could play with the cats which were always around. As for the biggest change which had happened to him after filming this movie, Ito revealed that he actually has a pet dog which he brings out for walks. During such walks, he would approach the cats he sees in the neighbourhood but they all ran away from him. After the filming, he learnt how to interact with cats and deliberately ignored the cats during his walks which led them to follow him around quietly.
During the event, Cinnamon and Drop, the PR cat ambassadors for the movie, were presented with one year's worth of cat food and appointment certificates as "remuneration". However, both cats were more content with sleeping and playing on the cat tower rather than on the event.
