First-episode-screening event of NTV Autumn 2016 drama "THE LAST COP / Last Cop"

The first-episode-screening event of NTV Autumn 2016 drama "THE LAST COP / Last Cop" was held on 27 September which was attended by cast members Karasawa Toshiaki, Kubota Masataka, Sasaki Nozomi, Wakui Emi, Fujiki Naohito, Kurokawa Tomoka and Takeuchi Ryoma. The drama which begins its run from 8 October in the Saturdays 9pm timeslot, was first produced as a drama SP and aired via NTV and Hulu last year and featured Karasawa as a Showa-era police officer who had been in a coma for 30 years and becomes buddies with his colleague played by Kubota who was born in the Heisei era. In conjunction with the 80s theme, the cast were all dressed in clothes which were trendy at that time. Karasawa was dressed in a Michael J. Fox's style outfit while Kubota was dressed like the Checkers. Wakui dressed like a girl band member, Sasaki took on the hamatora style, Fujiki wore a coloured jacket while Kurokawa dressed like Matsuda Seiko and Takeuchi dressed in the Shibuya casual style.

As Karasawa and Kubota already had experience working together in the last installment, their chemistry was evident as Kubota revealed that Karasawa brought him out for yakiniku the day before. In response, Karasawa commented that Kubota may look skinny but he can surely eat a lot and teased the latter for "showing off" his abdominal muscles unwittingly while complaining about feeling hot during the meal. Karasawa also joked that he was too absorbed in looking at Fujiki and Sasaki during the filming because they were too good-looking.

At the end of the event, Karasawa also announced that the series will be made into a movie to be shown during Golden Week next year. Karasawa commented that the filming for the drama is progressing faster than they thought so they might as well finish the filming for the movie while the momentum is still going strong. He lamented that as people grow old, it takes longer to remember and learn things so he wants to try doing things which will attract audiences but still strike a balance with what he can do. As for the movie, they don't even know what story will be featured so they were understandably concerned and worried if the plan is still going ahead. Nonetheless, Kubota commented that they are looking forward to work on the upcoming movie.
