Sudou Risa issued a statement through her agency on 11 October with regard to her husband Kawashima Michiyuki's demise two days earlier. Kawashima who was part of the rock unit BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, passed away due to a brain tumour at 5.12am on 9 October at the age of 47, leaving behind Sudou and their two daughters.
The couple got married in November 2006 and their daughters were born in January 2007 and October 2011. Kawashima was first diagnosed with the illness in December 2012 and took a break from work until May the following year. Unfortunately, he suffered a relapse in September last year and announced the end of his group's activities in June this year. His wake and funeral will be attended by close family members and insiders only but there will be a farewell ceremony for fans at a later date.
In Sudou's statement, she broke the news of her husband's departure and thanked everyone for their support of him which had made his life journey a fruitful one. As the son of his parents, her beloved husband, their daughters' gentle and cool father and a musician to his fans, Kawashima had created fond memories for everyone despite his short life. She called upon everyone to keep him in mind and treasure the things left behind by him. Sudou ended the statement by expressing her sense of pride for her husband who accepted his fate but tried to continue playing music.
