Kobayashi who plays the master of the shokudou, commented that he never expected the series to last this long but he views this as a pleasant surprise.
The last movie in the series which was screened from 31 January 2015, achieved box office sales of JPY 2.5 billion despite being shown at only 80 cinemas nationwide. Since the drama series started, it has accumulated fans in Japan and other countries like China, South Korea and Taiwan.
