The press conference of new Kansai TV / FujiTV drama SP "Demo, kekkon shitai! ~ BL Mangaka no kojirase konkatsuki ~" was held on 2 April which was attended by the lead Kuriyama Chiaki. The drama which will be shown at 10pm on 4 April, is based on the autobiographical essay-manga by Fujimoto Haruki titled "BL Mangaka desukedo kekkon shitemo ii desuka?" and features Kuriyama as the lead character Fujita Haruko who is a 34-year-old single BL (boys' love) manga artist. As she is surrounded by women at her workplace, she has forgotten how to interact with men and is having trouble finding a suitable marriage partner while finding it difficult to explain to men why she has chosen such a profession. Co-stars include Sano Hinako who plays her assistant Tachibana Kiriko and offers her advice on dating, Kaname Jun who plays Nakano, a mathematics lecturer at an university and meets Haruko at a matchmaking agency, Fujimori Shingo who plays Ikuta, a cat lover introduced to Haruko by Kiriko's boyfriend and Saito Shinji who plays Saito, a pretentious man and meets Haruko at a survival game go-kon.
When asked if she had ever felt any anxiety about wanting to get married, Kuriyama said no as she wondered if she could live with someone else especially since she felt that it will be difficult to adjust her lifestyle to match another person. As for her ideal marriage partner, Kuriyama said that someone who is like a cat and can maintain a fine distance with her while bringing in their respective preferences and lifestyles into the marriage would be great.
As for being called a yaoi fangirl in the drama, Kuriyama admitted that she has never been shy about her love for anime and had been called this a long time ago. As she had heard of matchmaking gatherings for anime lovers, she is interested to speak to like-minded people and participate in those if there's a chance to do so.
