The completion screening event of new movie "PARKS" was held at Theatre Shinjuku on 4 April which was attended by cast members Hashimoto Ai, Nagano Mei and Sometani Shota. The movie will be shown in cinemas from 22 April and is the 100th anniversary commemorative work to mark the opening of Inokashira Park. More than 20 groups of street bands and musicians are featured in the movie and the soundtrack which will be released first on 5 April.
The movie directed by Seta Natsuki, is set at Kichijoji in the 1960s and 2017 where Hashimoto plays an university student staying at Kichijoji who happens to meet Haru (Nagano), a senior high school student who wants to find her late father's ex-girlfriend Sachiko (Ishibashi Shizuka). During the process, they meet Sachiko's grandson Tokio (Sometani) and go through Sachiko's relics to find a open-reel tape. Co-stars also include Morioka Ryu and Sano Shiro.
When asked about how to enjoy the movie, Hashimoto suggested that people can listen to the soundtrack first before coming to watch the movie. In that way, when they listen to the soundtrack again, they may develop new insights and views about the movie. Hashimoto also revealed that she had been to Kichijoji before but only became more familiar with the area and Inokashira Park after she took on this movie's role.
