Arimura Kasumi will be taking on the lead role in the new movie "Natsumi no Hotaru" (Natsumi's firefly) which is due to be shown in early summer next year. The movie which is based on the same-titled novel published by Morisawa Akio in 2010, is directed by Hiroki Ryuichi who was also responsible for "Strobe Edge" which Arimura also starred in. Co-stars include Kudo Asuka.
Arimura plays the lead character Natsumi who aspires to be a photographer but is troubled about her career and her relationship with her boyfriend. While on a trip to a place where she saw fireflies with her late father, she meets an elderly parent and the child. Together with her boyfriend who comes in search of her, Natsumi discovers the beauty of nature and the importance of family relationships, friendships and love.
