Takei Emi will be starring in the NHK Saturday period drama "Chuushingura no Koi ~ Yonjuuhachininme no Chuushin ~" (The love of Chuushingura ~ the 48th Chuushin ~" which will begin its run from 24 September in the Saturdays 6.10pm timeslot. Although Takei had appeared in the 2012 Taiga "Taira no Kiyomori" before, this will be her first leading role in a period drama and in a NHK drama. The drama consists of 20 episodes and will be broadcast until February next year.
This drama is based on the novel "Yonjuuhachininme no Chuushin" by Morota Reiko which features the heroine Kiyo, a maid working in the Edo Mansion of the Asano family during the Genroku era. She falls for one of the ronin Isogai Jurozaemon and joins the Ooku after the revenge at the Kira residence. Co-stars include Imai Tsubasa who plays Asano Naganori, Fukushi Seiji who plays Isogai, Ishimaru Kanji who plays Oishi Kuranosuke and Tanaka Rena who plays Asano's wife, Nakao Akiyoshi, Sato Ryuta and Mita Yoshiko.
Filming begins on 13 August.
