Mizushima Hiro and Ayaka are expecting their first child, as announced by their agency on 26 December. The couple who got married in February 2009, released a joint statement saying that as Ayaka was suffering from Graves' disease (Basedow Krankheit), they had to monitor her condition very closely especially after she resumed her singing career in December 2011. Their efforts at containing the condition finally paid off when her doctor gave them the all-clear at the end of last year after her key statistics were said to be stable. As such, the couple then started to talk about family planning because without a stable condition, Ayaka would be prone to a miscarriage or premature delivery if she became pregnant. She is currently four months' pregnant. The couple expressed their wishes that their child will grow well and come to the world safely and asked for the warm support of everyone around them.
