Arashi's Aiba Masaki will be taking on his first solo leading role in a movie as he appears in Inudo Isshin's new production "MIRACLE Debikuro-kun no Koi to Mahou" (MIRACLE The love and magic of Debikuro-kun) along with his agency mate Ikuta Toma, Eikura Nana and South Korean actress Han Hyo-joo. Aiba last worked with Inudo in Arashi's movie "Kiiroi Namida" back in 2007.
The new movie is based on the novel by Nakamura Kou which was inspired by Yamashita Tatsuro's famous Christmas hit song "Christmas Eve". Aiba plays the role of Hikaru, a gentle but somewhat incompetent employee of a bookstore who dreams of being a manga artist. At night, he would go around pasting sheets of a manga he draws which is named "Debikuro Tsuushin" at various places, hoping that his work can bring warmth to whoever sees it. Eikura plays Hikaru's childhood friend Anna who is the only one that knows about Hikaru's secret and is the No.1 fan of Debikuro Tsuushin. Han Hyo-joo will play the role of a lighting designer Soyeon who meets Hikaru by chance while Ikuta will play Hikaru's ex-classmate in university Kitayama who has become a bestselling manga artist now.
The movie will be shown in cinemas from autumn 2014.
