Ando Sakura won the Best Leading Actress award in the 55th Blue Ribbon Award and attended the ceremony held at Iino Hall on 14 February with her essayist-mother Ando Kazu and her actor-husband Emoto Tasuku. She plays the role of a North Korean who had been living apart from her elder brother (Iura Arata) for 25 years in the movie "Kazoku no Kuni" which depicts the challenges the family faces after the reunion. The story is based on the real-life story of its director Yang Yeonhee. Ando's father Okuda Eiji won the Best Leading Actor award back in 1994 thus Ando attended the award ceremony when she was 8.
When asked about hosting the ceremony next year with fellow winner Abe Hiroshi, Ando said that she felt sorry for Abe because she probably won't be good at talking so the burden will fall more on him. Abe also teased her that he won't be able to cover too much for Ando since he's also a newbie at hosting.
