Abe Hiroshi won the Best Leading Actor for his performance in three movies "Kirin no Tsubasa", "Terumae Romae" and "Karasu no Oyayubi" in the 55th Blue Ribbon Award and attended the ceremony held at Iino Hall on 14th February. Among the three films, 'Terumae Romae" did very well at the box office with ticket sales of JPY 5.98bn and is due to have a sequel next year. Abe commented that he doubted whether he could play the role in "Terumae Romae" but he was glad to be recognised for his performance. As the tradition for the Blue Ribbon Award is that the Leading Actor and Actress winners have to be the hosts for the following year's ceremony, Abe said that he was nervous about this but will try to study this year's video in preparation for his hosting stint next year.
