Hashimoto Ai and Koura Kengo will be starring in the new NHK drama "Hard Nut" which will begin its run from late October in the Sundays 10pm timeslot. This is the first leading role in a drama for Hashimoto while this is the second time she is working with Koura since their collaboration in WOWOW's "Tsumi to Batsu A Falsified Romance" last year.
Hashimoto plays the role of Nanba Kurumi, a mathematics student in the famous Touto University who lacks communication skills and is seen as a weirdo by those around her. However, with her genius-like flashes of inspiration and her mathematics knowledge, she ends up solving many difficult cases e.g. terrorist bombings, murders and corporate extortion. As for the reason why she studies mathematics, it will also be explained in the drama. On the other hand, Koura plays a police detective Handa Tatsuhiko who works at the Hatsune Police Station and is known as a skilled marksman but his social life is shrouded in mystery. Co-stars also include Yajima Kenichi, Namioka Kazuki and Katsumura Masanobu.
