The movie is the first real-life adaptation of the anime popular in the 1970s. Matsuzaka who plays the lead, said that he was deeply moved by the fact that they managed to reach this day and hopes that those who haven't seen the movie will see it soon and give them feedback which may increase the chances of a sequel being made. Nakamura who plays the enemy role of Matsuzaka, revealed that he initially thought that he would be one of the Gacchaman members and he didn't have enough time for his hair to grow longer. Ayano then revealed that on the first day of the screening, Nakamura actually went to Ayano and jokingly asked to exchange roles with him.
