Matsu Takako will be pairing up with Baisho Chieko in the new movie by Yamada Yoji which is titled "Chiisai Ouchi" (Small House) and due to be shown next January. The movie which is Yamada's 82th production, is set in the suburbs of Tokyo about a relationship which spans the Showa and Heisei eras and the truth behind it.
The movie is based on a novel by Nakajima Kyoko which had won the Naoki Award. Matsu plays a young and beautiful married woman named Hirai Tokiko living in Tokyo while Baisho plays the elderly version of Nunomiya Taki, a maid who comes to work at Tokiko's household from Yamagata. Years later when the single Taki passes away, Takeshi (Tsumabuki Satoshi) discovers a number of notebooks which Taki had written in, describing the tale of a romantic relationship in the red mansion she had worked in before WWII and the surprising secret she knew about. Co-stars include Kuroki Haru, Kataoka Kotaro and Yoshioka Hidetaka. Filming begins on 1 March and is expected to wrap up at the end of May.
