ZONE will officially disband as of 7 April, according to the announcement by its agency on 2 March. The sole remaining member of ZONE i.e. Maiko released a statement saying that she had made the decision to disband after her partner Miyu had her contract terminated last month due to unacceptable behaviour and failure to honour her contractual obligations. ZONE had made their debut in 2001 and disbanded once in 2005 before resuming their activites in 2011.
Maiko apologised for the inconveniences and worry caused as a result of what happened to Miyu and mentioned that she did not imagine that things would reach that extent. She had given a lot of thought on how she could continue her career as ZONE alone but finally decided to end things with a final performance at Shibuya O-East on 7 April.
