TBS Autumn 2015 drama "Kounodori" which is set in the gynaecology department of a hospital, will be doing a tie-up with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to boost the public's awareness and understanding of rubella which is also known as German measles. In conjunction with the announcement, the lead of the drama Ayano Go met Shiozaki Yasuhisa, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare on 28 October where Ayano handed over a leaflet designed for the campaign to the latter.
Ayano commented that as a result of acting in this drama, he went for a vaccine check recently even though he had received an immunization jab for rubella when he was a child. As such, he hopes to spread the message that just one injection can potentially save the lives of many and hopes that the public can be informed of this through the media and the drama. Shiozaki also praised the drama for conveying correct information about the illness to the public and hopes that young people will be more aware of this issue through the drama.
Episode 3 which talks about rubella, will be shown on 30 October.
