Yagira Yuya and Yamamoto Mizuki will be starring in the TV Tokyo summer 2014 drama "Aoi Honoo" which begins its run from 18th July in the Fridays 12.12am timeslot. This will be Yagira's first leading role in a terrestrial station's drama and the first heroine role for Yamamoto.
"Aoi Honoo" is based on the same-titled manga by Shimamoto Kazuhiko which describes the comedic journey of an university student Honoo (Yagira) who tries to be a manga artist. Yamamoto plays the role of Morinaga Tonko who is Honoo's senior at school and the manager of the badminton team which Honoo belongs to. Although she is shortsighted, Tonko hates wearing glasses thus would talk to people at close distances in order to see them clearly, a gesture often mistaken by guys who think that she is interested in them. As the story is set in Osaka during the 1980s, the cast would be dressed in items seen as fashionable then e.g. slim jeans.
Co-stars include Kuroshima Yuina and Urai Kenji.
