The first-day-screening of new movie "Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Taika-hen" was held on 1 August at Shinjuku Picadilly which was attended by the cast members Sato Takeru, Fujiwara Tatsuya, Takei Emi, Kamiki Ryunosuke, Iseya Yusuke, Aoki Munetaka, Eguchi Yosuke and the director Otomo Keishi.
As part of the promotional campaign for this movie, the cast met the audience after the movie was screened which is unlike usual practice where the greeting session is done before the screening. With regard to this, Sato admitted that he was quite nervous about the audience's reaction but was glad to be greeted by the warm applause and smiling faces. Sato expressed his hope that this summer will be all about "Rurouni Kenshin" and that the movie will bring about a boom in the film industry.
The movie will be participating in the Fantasia International Film Festival to be held at Montreal, Canada on 3 August as a competitive film in "the Action!" category. There will also be an Asian premiere event to be held at Manila, the Philippines on 6 August.
