"Fune wo Amu" starring Matsuda Ryuhei and Miyazaki Aoi has been selected to represent Japan in the 86th Academy Awards' Best Foreign Language Film category as announced by the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan, Inc. on 5 September. The film had been selected by 7 judges out of 15 movies which had filed applications for the selection process.
"Fune wo Amu" is based on the novel by Miura Shion which talks about a man transferred to the dictionary editorial department of a publisher and how he works on a new edition of a dictionary with his unique co-workers and his love story.
