With four dramas having finished their races, it's now up to the rest to strive for higher ratings to get out of their current positions. GTO looks like a shoo-in for the top spot but Rich Man, Poor Woman needs to do a fair bit of work if it wants a shot at the No.2 slot. Iki mo dekinai natsu bounces back into the over-10% category with a 2.8% increase but frankly speaking, I didn't think Episode 9 was interesting enough to deserve this figure. Coincidentally, out of the 4 dramas which have finished their run, 3 are from TV Asahi. I wasn't expecting Iryu Sousa to end so quickly with their stellar ratings but I guess it could be that the initial plan was to do 8 episodes only.
This has been a rather eventless summer in terms of the drama offerings where I can't really find one drama which I like. For example, Iki mo dekinai natsu's first 5 episodes seemed rather promising but from the point when the stalker ex-husband appeared in front of Rei and Yoko, things sort of went downhill. And where was the romance promised between Takei Emi and Eguchi Yosuke?! I just hope that the autumn dramas don't end up promising too much and delivering too little because there are so many enticing stories on offer and it will be even more disappointing if the result turns out to be a letdown.
