Koura Kengo will be starring in WOWOW's drama "Tsumi to Batsu A Falsified Romance" (Crime & Punishment) which is due to be shown from 29 April on Sundays at 10pm. The drama is based on Russian author Dostoyevsky's signature work "Crime & Punishment" but will be set in modern Japan. This drama will be Koura's first in a leading role and he plays an university student Tachi Miroku whose father committed suicide and has to bear the expectations of his mother and elder sister. As a result, Miroku develops a character who places a lot of emphasis of his pride and yet feels inferior to others at the same time. One day, Miroku decides to kill a female senior high school student who is the mastermind behind an enjokousai group but something happens at the crime scene to foil his plans...
Koura commented that he had a lot of lines in the drama and had to undergo a lot of emotional upheavals while playing this character. According to him, it can be really taxing at times as he had to go through Miroku's darker emotions during the filming which started on 20 Jan and is expected to wrap up on 20 Mar.
Co-stars include Mizukawa Asami who plays Ameya Echika, Tanaka Tetsuji who plays a mysterious man drawn to Miroku and Ibu Masato as the police detective who tries to find out what Miroku is thinking. Hashimoto Ai plays the leader of the enjoukosai group while Someya Shota plays a deliveryman who sends the prostitution proceeds to the leader.
