"The King's Speech" will be made into a stage play this summer and stars Shonentai's Higashiyama Noriyuki as the lead actor. The movie which had won the best movie, best director, best script and best leading actor titles in the 83rd Academy Awards last year starred Colin Firth as George VI who had a stammering problem when speaking in public. It was screened in Japan from Feb last year and managed to attract more than a million cinema-goers and made 1.82 billion yen in total. The Japanese play will be shown in late August at Tokyo's Setagaya Public Theatre and at Osaka's Morinomiya Piloti Hall. As for the British version, it will be from Feb this year so Japan will be the 2nd country which has adapted the movie into a stage play.
