Recommended for: those who don't mind a slow buildup in a suspense story where the detective outwits the criminal in one move
Liked:
- Ep 5. This has got to be the best episode in the entire series made up of 2 dramas in the same season with the same characters. The way how the truth was revealed and how Hisui outsmarted the Transparent Devil was very engaging even though it was largely Hisui talking for most of the episode.
- Kiyohara Kaya & Seto Koji having great chemistry as "partners" at work and in love
- The chemistry between Kiyohara and Koshiba Fuuka in the "invert" arc where they had more playful and spontaneous interactions.
Disliked:
- The buildup in the first 4 episodes was just too slow and painful to sit through.
- The "invert" arc seemed quite refreshing in the first episode with its reverse reasoning but the concept got stale really quickly with subsequent cases. It also didn't help that the finale in the "invert" arc was way too simple to deduce and see through.
- I was hoping to see some revelations about Hisui in the "invert" arc but it was very disappointing to note that there was nothing substantial. Which means that the likelihood of a sequel is pretty high but I'm not sure if I can sit through more boring episodes to get to those revelations.
