Former AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko will be making her first appearance in a drama since her departure from AKB48 in July this year. She will be playing the role of a primary school teacher in FujiTV's autumn drama "Umi no ue no Shinryojo" which begins its run from 14 October at 9pm on Mondays and features Matsuda Shota as its lead. Matsuda's character will fall in love with Shinoda's character when he goes to the island where she's teaching at in the second episode to be shown on 21 Oct. The filming was done at Shodo Island in Kagawa Prefecture during early Sep. Shinoda commented that since she isn't good at acting, she didn't really want to watch the works she had been appeared in all along but she is very excited about this time and will watch the episode to see how it turns out.
